Welcome to the 42 Commando Royal Marines Memorial Fund website.

This website was established in May 2010 for the sole purpose of raising £47,345 to pay for the refurbishment of 42 Commando's Memorial Garden at Bickleigh Barracks, Plymouth.

It is with great pleasure that we wish to announce that we have reached our target in very quick time, thanks to the sincere generosity of many people and organisations from across the country.  The amount of local support has been paticularly humbling, where a heartfelt letter with a small donation contained within was equally as poignant as a donation made by another with larger funds at their disposal.

Many donors had links, past and present, to the Royal Marines, but equally there were many who simply wished to express their gratitude for the sacrifices Royal Marines make in the service of their country.  

There are simply too many people to thank individually on this page, however particular thanks must go to the Memorial Garden's designer, Jon Rodney-Jones and the sculptor, Roger Dean, whose magnificent work has given us an inspiring place of pilgrimage for the bereaved families and colleagues of the fallen.
